Stellar converter is a ship weapon in Master of Orion.

The Stellar Converter is a tremendous plasma cannon powered by a nearly-perfect efficient matter to energy conversion system. Used on the battlefield, it fires a powerful plasma blast that inflicts devastating damage. Outside of combat, it may also be used to destroy entire planets, turning them into asteroid belts when fired from orbit. It's also possible to mount this terrible device as an orbital planetary defense system.
